This publication is a patient education poster that explains new guidelines for prescribing pain medication in emergency departments. These guidelines are intended to discourage pain medication misuse and abuse. There is also an adaptation of these guidelines for urgent care clinics.
This poster also has a companion handout that is used to educate patients about the ED guidelines for prescribing pain medication.
A publication for patients who are prescribed pain medication called Safe Use of Prescription Medication is also available to download.
