This free online training builds on earlier quality training on communicating with data, surveys, and variation. It presents important concepts and tools regarding the use of qualitative and quantitative data in decision-making and process management. This training is ideal for public health staff who will lead or participate in community health assessment, community health improvement planning, or quality improvement projects.

Upon completion participants should be able to:

  1. Describe when each type of data should be gathered and why.
  2. Develop data collection mechanisms.
  3. Prepare to analyze the data collected.
